SHORT STORIES

"Black Tiles Short Stories" is a collection of Mia's first stories and artworks. It consists of 7 stories combined with 7 paintings. A project where literature inspires art and art inspires literature.

Mia used to be a perfectionist, never daring to showcase something unless it was perfect. As she has grown up, so has her approach to art and life in general. She used to be the shyest person on the planet, never daring to do anything remotely out of the box. Her creativity was hidden away, packed up, and stored in the attic. But to be happy, she promised herself that she would face these fears and live out her dreams and aspirations in life. So perfectionism was put aside. She started acting when she was 16 years old and pushed that shy little girl slowly out of her shell. It was truly the most uncomfortable thing she has ever put herself through, but it was worth it. Her acting coach, Kimberly Jentzen, taught her to remove the labels from the characters she was playing. To really get below the surface of the character, to truly see them for who they are, because a character is just like art—it can't be put in a box. It's not black or white; it's a variation of color combinations. It's not this or that; it's a little bit of everything. It's much more than you know in a limited amount of time. It’s something you need to discover. She quickly learned that everything has a history. A toy, A flower, a hairbrush, or a simple thing like a Pen—they are all things with a history that make us feel something. So what's most important is the feeling and the story behind it. Mia says, and that is what she has created for you. It's not perfection; it's imperfection! It's calm, it's daring, it's bold, it's good energy, it's whatever you want it to be.
