Into the Blue is the second painting that Mia finished for her first art exhibition of Black Thiles' short stories. This painting is inspired by her short story Into the Blue — a project that lets literature inspire art and art inspire literature.

Mia loves to play with mats and shimmers to create contrast and depth in her paintings. The painting changes depending on the light coming through the window. She says: 'That's the AM painting, and as it gets darker outside, it turns into the Midday painting and PM painting.'

I ask her about the Black thiles in the painting. She says: 'I'll tell you the meaning of the name, but I'm not going to reveal the purpose of the thiles in the painting. A black thile is an unseen person with hidden talents and treasures. They are undiscovered tales, and it's my job to figure out what they're all about.'
