Black Thiles marks Mia Nordberg’s debut painting for her first exhibition, Black Thiles’ Short Stories. Among all her works, this piece holds special significance, as it was originally created to become the cover artwork for her short story collection.

The painting explores the unseen miracles and hidden worlds that exist beyond our imagination — reminding us that things are often less frightening than they first appear.

Over the course of a month, Mia carefully developed the piece layer by layer, thoughtfully refining the composition, colors, and symbolism. She spent nine days meticulously painting tiny dots by hand to recreate grains of sand beneath the bathtub, adding both texture and depth to the work.

Numerology plays an important role throughout Mia’s art, with each painting containing a hidden number woven into the composition. Curtains also appear repeatedly in her works, symbolizing an invitation into the story and emotional world within the painting.

We print exclusively on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm, a natural white fine art paper with a subtle texture and exceptional quality. Made from 100% cotton, this paper is acid-free and lignin-free, ensuring long-term durability and archival integrity.
